A lovely mum and her 4 children were put forward to receive help from An Hour For Others by the family support worker who recognised the condition of the 3 children's bedrooms as in real need of decoration as the rooms were playing a part in poor physical and mental health. After meeting the family and passing our process including matching our criteria, a team of kind hearted tradespeople and businesses joined forces to refurbish the 3 bedrooms to a superb standard.  Gecko interiors, Peter Graham and Regenda doing the painting and decorating, Walton Flooring providing all the flooring, Dulux supplying the paint, ETM window blinds supplied window blinds,  Lombard shipping and forwarding provided 3 amazing beds which all  the upstairs for the family.

Only 3 years previous the families oldest child committed suicide which led to a real downward spiral of depression, anxiety, stress and grief which is unimaginable. One moment of shear heartbreak changed a family forever and led to a long period of suffering and struggling day to day.  Mum was really keen to improve her own circumstances and take control back of her life, she is even looking at setting up suicide support groups to help other parents going through tragic circumstances.

The help tradespeople and businesses provided giving their 'hours for others' refurbishing the 3 children's bedrooms has given the family such a massive boost in so many ways. The children now have a safe, comfortable and warm place to relax and sleep, this in itself is vital for any child growing up and helps them have a good nights sleep and improve physical and mental well being which in turns leads them to be able to concentrate and perform better in school.  It also shows these children that the world actually isn't such a cruel harsh place and there is people out there who care about other people.

The oldest son has also joined one of the boxing clubs that have offered to give free places and is making amazing progress.

These are mums words from our feedback form.

'My children' 3 bedrooms were decorated from top to bottom and it has really made a huge difference to myself and kids lives. We are so much more settled and comfortable now with the kids finding it easier to get into a bedtime routine, they love being able to spend time in their lovely rooms watching TV or relaxing after school. The kids all really look after their rooms and keep them clean and tidy as they really appreciate the time and effort An Hour For Others have put in for them. I would love to help AHFO in the future  and really can't thank them enough for making such a difference to my families life. An Hour For Others are amazing people, each and everyone involved we can't thank you all enough'.
